I'm looking for the original Clarinet in C part for Bizet Symphony in C. The ones on IMSLP are transposed and of questionable origin. I own a C clarinet and would like to play it on C (especially the last movement which would lay much better on C) Any help would be appreciated as I would like to avoid A: spending hours in front of Finale to make a new part; and B: transposing "backwards" as it were, a B-flat part on C clarinet.

I looked out of curiosity in Kalmus's catalog. They offer separate parts for clarinets 1, 2, 3 and 4, basset horn and bass clarinet. I don't know what the basset and bass parts are, but I assume 2 of the 4 clarinet parts are in the original keys and two are transposed. You'd probably have to talk to someone at Kalmus to find out which is which.
Lucks only seems to offer transposed parts.

Durant is the original publisher I believe. I've played this a couple of times and the parts lie fine for Bb in D major.

kdk,. you must be looking at the wrong piece. Bizet never wrote for basset horn.
At any rate, Symphony in C only has two parts.

You were looking at the list of parts in the drop-down. For some reason Kalmus lists all possible parts in that list, whether the work in questions uses them or not. I agree that it is very confusing. Instrumentation for this piece is 2, 2, 2, 2 - 4, 2, 0, 0, timp, str. Kalmus does not specify what pitch the clarinet parts are in. I have sent an email and await a reply.

I know that! I don't know where those parts came from, but if you click the link, you'll see the listing in the drop down list of separate parts. There are too many parts, in fact, for all the woodwinds and brasses. So, a phone call to Kalmus might turn up the result that the parts list is entirely wrong. But one of those clarinet parts *might* be what the OP is looking for.

Yes, that's where I saw the parts (see my reply to rmk54). I've never run into this before on Kalmus's site, so maybe it's a new (and confusing) tweak to their software.

If you can transpose C parts on the Bb, it's easy to reverse the process, playing the C and reading the Bb part down a step.
Remember that you already know the fingerings. Reading down just involves associating the right fingerings with the notes.
I often play the Voice Flute, a tenor recorder in D, a step above the standard tenor in C. It took about a week for the fingerings to "click in."
Particularly where you'll be rehearsing and have plenty of time to practice, it should be easy. If you get confused while practicing, use Bb fingerings on the C to play the passage and then do it transposing. Playing along with a recording will also help.

Ken- that's one of the two things the OP stated he is trying to avoid.
I've only ever played this from a C clarinet part, could track one down in NZ if that were necessary.

I know, but I think the questioner is just afraid of transposing. Particularly on a part originally written for C clarinet, reading down on a Bb part should be a snap.
I could of course have suggested that he read tenor clef, up an octave.
