 Opera On Tap
Author: Ralph Katz
Date:   2009-10-18 11:56

This non-profit promotes opera in venues that are accessible to both singers and audiences.

in Michigan, now Ypsilanti-based tenor, oboist, and instrument repairman Ko Kaiden is starting up a local chapter, and has two events scheduled in Depot Town.

Based in New York, there are also OOT chapters in Chicago, New Orleans, and Bloomington IN.

While the initial local events will use keyboard accompaniment, I am excited that Ko wants to add a woodwind quintet and, trumpet. A decade ago I performed a short opera with similar instrumentation, and it was a lot of fun.
