Just thought I'd poll the listers here about any strong, portable, lightweight, durable music stands you might have run across. I've been using the classic spindly plated music stand I've had since I was a kid, but there've GOT to be better options out there. Maybe something with a more substantial "desk" that would hold a tablet OR music folio? I have friends with K&M style foldable stands, but they're heavy and klunky. Any favorites out there? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

thanks Ed & 2nd Try--Hey 2nd, is your recommendation based on actually using the Peak? do those spiral binder thingies make it hard to notate parts in rehearsal?

The Peak looks like a K&M 12125 / 12120 which are unfortunately rather expensive in the US.
However K&M stands, not just that one, are very resilient so I rather pay once for something well made that would last decades instead of buying a new one every couple of years.
I still have this one: K&M Konig & Meyer 10010.000.55 - it is not expensive (like a box of reeds).
When I bought it in a brick and mortar store, the sales rep answered my "is it sturdy?" question with "We have had this one on display for the past 5 years" then he proceeded to picking it up and hitting it (open) against the floor. Concluding with "I do this probably every day I am here".
K&M also makes a lighter version made of aluminum.
My preference though goes to sturdier stands. I don't mind a little extra weight from the car to the room and get some peace of mind. Nothing is more annoying than music falling off the stand.
A couple of years go I bought a few "K&M Heavy Duty Music Stand" - when they were on sale on ebay. They are excellent and about the same weight as the Peak. You can still find good deals on them on ebay.
If you want something that can hold a heavy binder or a tablet, a lightweight stand might be too top-heavy.
For home practice I have a large heavy K&M stand with a substantial desk. I created a shelf for pencils etc, that I attach to it with magnets.

Yes, my recommendation is based on actually using the Peak.
I am void of conflict of interest in the musical products industry. I have no horse in this race. Get the music stand that best serves your interest.
As is always my case, and should be that of anyone on the internet, void of prior full disclosure of same IMO, you will never find a "tag=" clause in any Amazon link I provide: a telltale sign of an affiliate link where commission is to be made.

2nd try, apologies if you thought I was questioning your motives, I wasn't. I know you from the board for a long time, & trust your judgment. I was more interested in finding out if those spiral swivel things interfere with marking up a part in rehearsal.

I've been using the Manhasset Voyager stand. As a stand, it's great, but it's awkward to carry - like most solid desk stands.
I'm considering this one as it'll fold down to a more managable size and I can use it for my laptop or a projector for professional use. (I use a laptop for my sheet music anyway.)

This one is sturdy and very adjustable. If you can find one this sturdy with a "perforated" table that makes it a little lighter, that would be a plus.
