I am playing the bass clarinet part in Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice. Great fun.
For the bass clarinet, there are parts in treble clef and in bass clef on imslp. Let's call them bass edition and treble edition.
I noticed that in the bass edition, here and there, the editor switches briefly to treble clef, but looking at the same place on the treble edition, it is a full octave higher in the treble edition. (see attached)
So, if in general with bass clef parts where there are treble clef bits - should they be played an octave higher?
Looking at the conductor's score, the bass edition matches it, so I guess the when a conductor sees the part in treble clef the expectations would be "concert-ish" treble?

The treble clef sections in bass clef parts are usually played an 8ve higher than written so it all sounds Concert Pitch-ish as those parts you highlighted are in unison with the strings (either the violas or cellos or both without checking the score).

This makes sense. It seems the second example is a transposition error. I found another error (wrong note) elsewhere.
