Based on the serial number 8389, your SML Excella clarinet was likely manufactured in 1951. While the "Excella" name is often associated with the later King stenciled models, it was originally an SML-produced instrument. The Excella was considered a student or intermediate model within the SML clarinet line, which also included the mymileestonecard.com professional-grade "Marigaux" and "5-Star" models.
