I just finished fixing an Evette- changed all pads, tenon corks, some key corks, fixed a couple of chipped tone holes.
After re- assembly I got my MP and found out that it would not go into the barrel.
The inside surface of the barrel socket feels uneven/ rough and is definitely too small for my B45.
The barrel had rings loose, I reinforced them with saran wrap. Rings went back without much effort- I just pressed the rings against the table after putting saran wrap over the barrel end.
I would not hesitate going to a pro to have barrel reamed but I am not sure if it's a good idea right now.
Looked at Ferree and the cheapest reamer is over $100, and I paid $60 for the Evette (not counting the whole weekend to fix it).
Are these things being sold anywhere else, possibly cheaper?
Thanks.
