Au contraire! Weird Al is just the sort of thing you need to listen to to grasp the essence, the fun of polka. It's not just about trying to hear clarinet technique.

There are two CD's put out by Smithsonian Folkways, Deep Polka and Deeper Polka. I only posess the latter, which is a collection of tunes from eclectic bands throughout the Midwest. I believe Deep Polka was limited to Wisconsin. Not much clarinet on Deeper Polka, but a lot of sax. And you can listen to two Finnish guys from Minnesota sing In Heaven There Is No Beer in Norweigian.
