Auld Lang Syne ala Klez (oy)

There is no gold standard for what is "klezmer" and what is not. Chording, tempi, structure, and even basic melodic material varied geographically and between groups in the same city. But, there are but some demarcations which are pretty well established.

So these are my end-of-year peeves. Did you ever notice?

- Any minor key tune listed as klezmer? (Sunrise, Sunset - oy)
- Composed tunes? (Anniversary Waltz - same as above)
- Israeli tunes listed as klezmer? (Hava Nagila - composed around 1918)
- Any Jewish themed piece? (Debbie Friedman pieces - nice but not klezmer)
- Klezmer charts annotated with every last *(&^ grace note so nobody can read them? (Which major publisher did this?)
