Does anyone know of any Klezmer-style or Klezmer influenced solos for clarinet and orchestra?
Thanks!

Chris,
Contact Tom Puwalski, he has performed works such as that many times. He has posted on the Bboard in the past, and is the author of something like "the clarinetist's guide to klezmer

Ernest Bloch, Betty Olivero, and Ora Bat Chaim are all composers worth looking into. I have a Giora Feidman recording of a few of their pieces (1996 Koch) with Radio Philharmonie Hannover. A quick Google search has one other Feidman recording of Ora Bat Chaim.

Chris,
I don't know of any for orchestra. However, there is a work titled, "Klezmer Classics" by Johan de Meij. This work is not a transcription. Mr. de Meij's music is great. His "Lord of the Rings Symphony" was also written for symphonic band. Good luck in finding these works.

I'm not familiar with this de Meij work, but if memory serves, he wrote a piece called "Big apple" which was one of the worse pieces I remember playing in the Field band. It had 2 + pages or arpegios that looked like a sequencer part. After I took the time to really learn it, I felt cheated. It was as bad as my first impression. Tom Puwalski

Try Robert Starer's Kli Zemer Concerto. There's a recording by David Krakauer available on Naxos's Milken Archive label. It's published through MMB Music.
