 When do you get paid?
Author: BbMajorBoy

Hello,

Ive just accepted my first paid reed job, A Chorus Line, covering 4 books between 2 and was wondering whether its normal to be paid before or after you do the gig?

Thanks

Expect to be paid after the gig. I've played shows (as well as other types of performances) for over 30 years and have never been paid before.

Makes sense. When does anyone ever get paid for any kind of job before they do it?

When I was gigging there were some venues that we demanded payment first due to the venue's reputation.

I have never been paid before the show. I'm always happy when I can get the check during the closing show. I have had to wait 2-3 weeks. It all depends.

Generally in professional theatre, we get paid every two weeks by the contractor. Sometimes it's weekly.

On the night of the last gig...on the road, normally every two weeks, though leader may advance for hotel rooms when extended one nighters

On a short-run it is expected that payday is the last show. On long runs, some theater management pays weekly or bi-weekly.
