 Flute for doubling

Hi- I just purchased a Gemeinhart Silver SP flute. I haven't received it in the mail yet but I would like some opinion as to whether this would seem to be a good deal for a beginner such as myself. I play in the community theater , usually saxophones and clarinets (base and soprano) so I thought adding a flute would certainly help. Have doubled in flute only once and that was part of a section.(Me and My Girl )- used a student model from my school in that production but thought it would be good to have one around to stay in shape. I payed $140.00. They said it is 6 yrs old and has only been used for 1 year. Naturally, after I bought it I started to see comments as to flutes that are better than this brand etc. Should I have cold feet about this purchase?
