I played the show last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

You need all 5 instruments. Do not transpose them to another instrument. Get/borrow an alto flute and soprano sax.

If you transpose the parts, the wind voicings will lose their character (ex -low alto flute notes, jazzy soprano sax licks, etc...) When you listen to the cast recording you'll especially notice how important the alto flute is.

It's a great show and being the only wind instrument, you are constantly juggling horns, but it's great fun.


BTW - If you plead your case about the importance of the alto flute, the production company might just rent you one for the run of the show...GBK
