 Buffet Bassoon 35L

I have recently acquired this bassoon and have no idea of its value - it has what I believe to be its original bocal (no markings on it) and comes in a fitted case - the Buffet site shows the serial number - 5000 to match to a bassoon made on 31.1.73 and says it is a 35L (Professional) - any help would be appreciated either on email or feel free to call me on 07973327263 (UK)

The bassoon measures 132 cms

Thanks - steve

A well known London double reed specialist retailer is selling new Buffet French bassons for £9376.

Yours will be a good bit less than this & will depend very much on it's condition.

thank you Ian - someone wrote to me saying it was NOT a 35L but that is what shows up on the Buffet website when you enter the number 5000 - I am certainly not an expert - steve

I am not sure why the serial number is 5000, or whether that is the serial number of your instrument. But your instrument is clearly not a 35L. It is a Jancourt model (with rings), with no roller on the Bb key, G key, little finger whisper key nor the C# key. It predates the 35L by at least half a century. You should take a look at photos of a real 35L and see the visual differences for yourself. For the record, I owe a student model of th 35L, and I have tried a couple of 35L, a Jancourt model (identical to yours), multiple RC models and the latest Buffets.
