 Hand size and bassoon

I currently play the oboe, but would like to play the bassoon, too. I've heard there are difficulties with playing the bassoon if you have smaller hands. Anyone here overcome those without resorting to a short reach bassoon?

I reckon that if you can cope with the oboe you should be OK with bassoon - the stretch for the right hand on bassoon is no worse than the oboe although the left hand is more tricky. A good friend of mine has small hands for an adult & copes fine. You might not be able to use a hand rest (crutch) or have to cut down the stem. It is possible for a repairer to realign keys slightly & make minor modifications to help if needed without too much cost.

The only way to know is try it! Good luck.
