Hi,
I was wondering what some people's personal favorite oboes/brands are. I got to try a Marigaux 901 recently, and the high register was magical. I'm not very experienced, so I'm eager to hear other's opinions.
Thanks

You can't go wrong with either Howarth or Marigaux.
Not that I'm biased or anything.

I had a Marigaux 901 and I thought the lower register was the nice one--more colorful than other brands. I thought the top register was thin and bright, but it may be that I learned reed making from Lorée and Laubin players.

I own a Marigaux A series for American players and it is GREAT! Especially like the venting on the low B and Bb.
I do find that I have to modify my reed making a bit to get the best out of the high notes, leaving a bit more cane on the reed, but otherwise it's a great horn.
