 Lelia Loban has passed away

Our friend, collaborator, composer, and poster Lelia Loban has passed away unexpectedly.

"Dear friends and colleagues of Lelia,

My dear wife Lelia passed away June 24. Her death was sudden and completely unexpected. We were together for 48 wonderful years after meeting in a Shakespeare class at Berkeley in 1968. Our marriage was a joyful thing from beginning to the end. We shared so much in common, especially our love of doing and creating things ourselves. Perhaps some of you don't know how amazingly talented and skilled Lelia was. In addition to playing the piano, clarinet and saxophone she was also a composer of works that have been publicly performed by professional musicians. After 10 years of running her own stained glass business in the late 80's and early 90's she focused mainly on her writing and composing. She was a frequent contributor to the magazine Scarlet Street and was working on several works of fiction. Lelia was also a super cook and seamstress. She made almost all of my shirts and most of her clothes on her beloved Bernina sewing machine. Lelia was also an enthusiastic helper when I worked on our cars, She had her own welding helmet so that she could help in the never-ending battle to replace the rusted-out body panels on our 1950 Chevy. I think we were one of the only couples that had his and hers band saws. I encourage you to listen to her music on the Sibelius web site (http://www.scoreseexchange.com/search?composer=Loban) and read her work in Scarlet Street. I hope, in the near future to have her Sherlock Holmes novel published. I will let you know when that happens.

Sincerely,
Kevin Lee"

This is dreadful news - such a shock.

Thanks for letting us know.

Rest in Peace, Lelia.
