Hello, oboe bboard! I was looking for gift ideas for my oboist and english horn playing friend. I don't really know much about the accessories world with oboe and I know there are thousands of different ideas about equipment and reed care etc. So I was wondering what other oboists thought. It can be anything from fancy reed cases to solid gold water cups! Think, what would you like to receive as an oboist? Sub $100 dollars preferably. :D

Get them a gift certificate at a place that has just about everything, like rdg or Forrests'. Even something as innocuous as a reed case can seriously mess with an oboist's mind. I have the old wooden Forrests' 12-reed case and if you gave me their more recent 10-reed case I would feel both obligated to use it and distressed that I would only be carrying around 10 reeds....

Yes, right!! Gift certificate. There is no way you could choose something for them that would be what they would choose for themselves.
