 White Elephant with Clarinet Studio

Hello all!

My university clarinet studio is doing a white elephant style gift exchange for the end of the semester/holiday season, and I was wondering if any of you had any clever clarinet related gifts that may come to mind? The max price we have agreed on spending is around twenty USD.

If you are unfamiliar with the game/gift exchange I'll insert a description from Wikipedia:

A white elephant gift exchange, Yankee swap or Dirty Santa is a party game where amusing, impractical gifts are exchanged during festivities. Usually, the goal of a white elephant gift exchange is to entertain party-goers rather than to gain a genuinely valuable or highly sought-after item.

Each participant supplies one wrapped gift, usually of similar value. The gifts are placed in a central location, and participants determine in which order they will take turns selecting them. The first person opens a wrapped gift, and the turn ends. On subsequent turns, each person has the choice to either unwrap a new present or to "steal" another's. When a person's gift is stolen, that person can either choose another wrapped gift to open or can steal from another player. To avoid never-ending circles, each gift can only be stolen once per turn. The game is over when everyone has a present. Generally, it is recommended to have at least six participants for the gift exchange party. With a larger group, game play may be more protracted.

How about Dan Leeson's book, "The Mozart Forgeries." (A nefarious plot to forge the manuscripts for the Mozart Concerto and Clarinet Quintet.)

Best regards,

Excellent suggestion. You'll want to read it before you put it in the gift exchange.

Frechbow,

My family does this every year during the holidays; we have a blast. Some things you might consider are: a $20 iTunes or Amazon gift card, a nice silk swab, a Legere' clarinet reed (IMHO a #3), some excellent cork grease, a Kal Opperman velocity study book, a small case humidifier...

If you have Amazon Prime, you can probably get something shipped to you in a day or so to use in the swap (if something does not arrive, just print a picture of it and when you get it...).

HRL

PS We do this with as many as 14 or 15 relatives and allow two steals. One year somehow brought a frozen pork roast.
