I have been playing a Buffet E12f for a few years now..the price was right and I have never had such a high quality instrument before...now I am starting to get a lot of rock/jazz/blues gigs..switched to a Beechler m.p. to get more volume.. Anyone have experience with this instrument? Going to try out other clarinets soon to see if there is something out there that may suit my needs better. Any input appreciated, thanks!

The buffet e12f is a pretty freeblowing instrument. It’s nice. If you are looking to upgrade you should check out the Yamaha csvr. It too is free blowing and has a nice, pretty sound.

I would stick with the E12F. Changing any pads that don't seal 100% will give you more projection.

One of my students has one and it has such a nice tone. I was impressed at how good the instrument is. She says it's very easy to play.

It's sounding better than ever now - I switched from the Optima ligature and am using a cheap, basic one, and am using VanDoren V12s..I'm getting there!

Still working this E12f hard..back to the Optimum ligature and Mitchell Lurie 2.5's on a Portnoy BP02. Thanks everyone for your input! This horn is hard to put down!

I regret selling E12 I had before I bought R13. It was so easy to play and it was in tune. It would make such a nice back up clarinet.
I had a plastic Artley that I was going to fix and use as a back up. I fixed it but it is nowhere near the E12, not even remotely close...
The R13 did sound better than E12 but there is no ceiling for perfection, of course.
At least, with newer instrument like E12F, you should not have any mechanical problems so even if you get better instrument I would suggest to keep the E12F as a back up, esp. if you play professionally.
