I've got my eye on a Selmer Signet Special currently listed on The Site Which Must Not Be Named, and am wondering if it might be a significant step up from my circa-1951 Selmer Bundy Resonite.
Would someone be willing to contact me via email so I could pick their brains? The Signet may require significant work, but I'm not positive based on the photos.

I believe that Mr. Ocone is correct: The wooden Signet Special is essentially a rebadged wooden Bundy. So, you'd be buying the same clarinet you already have, but with body joints constructed of wood.
Note that some Signet Specials are equipped with plastic barrels and/or plastic bells.
The wooden Signet 100 shares its acoustic design with the Bundy 577, but Bundy did not offer a wooden version.
In my opinion, the 100 is the one to get. It's more even between the registers and offers generally better intonation. That said, you would find the Special to be a comfortable and familiar wooden companion to your Bundy 1400.
Signets other than the Soloist tend to sell for very low prices. If there's any condition issues with the one you're considering, just pass it up and wait for a better one to come along.

Beth, to put it another way:
The plastic Bundy 1400, wooden Bundy, wooden Signet Special, and both plastic and wooden Buescher Aristocrat models share the same .590 bore and acoustic design.
The plastic Bundy 577, plastic Signet Resonite, wooden Signet 100, and wooden Buescher 400 share the same .577 bore and acoustic design.
Don't overlook the Buescher models--they tend to get the least interest from buyers and chances are, you'll find a nicer Buescher for less money versus a Bundy or Signet.
