What vintage is a Selmer Omega. Don't know serial number. Has engraved bell and silver plated keys.

I actually dont think Omegas are vintage at all.
A Selmer Omega is the top of the line Selmer Usa clarinet , and its based on the Selmer Signet. They should all be pretty new - if it is the same one with all tenon rings, and that soft sided blue case, then it shouldnt be that old. At the most maybe 10 years old. I am definetly not sure about this, but I hope I helped....

There are two types of Selmer Omegas. The commonly seen one is made by Selmer USA . It is a relatively new model (15 years or so). The original Selmer Omega is the Selmer Paris Omega. These were around about 45 years ago. I don't know how many were made, or if they still make them (probably not).
The Selmer Paris Omega is much rarer, and go for a lot more dollars if they are in reasonable condition. A Paris Omega's age can be determined by the normal Selmer Paris serial number tables.

The Selmer USA Omega clarinets can be segregated into two groups... current production as of the moment which seems to be a cheapened version of the Selmer Signet series (or at least this is what I'm told) and a 1980's production which featured elaborate engraving on the bell, heavily silver-plated keywork and impressive attention to detail and construction.
I think the 1980's version was an excellent clarinet, but was discontinued after several years which is too bad because these horns were very good players. I've owned a number of them and have avoided it since only because I was doing some flipping of instruments at the time and found this to be an under-appreciated clarinet. Excellent bargain for the player or student who wants an excellent horn but only has funds for an entry level instrument. But not worth investing in because it's too hard to get your money back.
