Hi everyone - I was reading some older threads, and came across the term "10:30 position" in a discussion on Benny Goodmans equipment and clarinet ligature position/placement.. I have never heard this term before - could someone explain? Thanks!

I seem to recall that sometimes he may have played with his ligature turned so the screws were at an angle, rather than over the reed.

Goodman during his very long career sampled many ligatures, even the old
Selmer magnitone that had no adjustment screws. One that he came back to often was the old Boosey and Hawkes that has the large letters BH cut into the metal. He sometimes played the B & H in the usual position, sometimes in an inverted position, and sometimes turned askew as you describe.
