Theodore Johnson mouthpieces?

I can't seem to find many reviews of Ted Johnson's mouthpieces. They pop up on Ebay but don't really sell. All the feedback from this BB stems from the same poster, and I can't find much else about them apart from Ted Johnson's website. Seems like some red flags, but I'd like some confirmation. So, are these pieces best to be avoided, or are they more of an underground, sleeper hit that only the cool kids know about?

I'm more annoyed with the fact that there's no way to turn off the music than by the clarinetist's tone itself, but I'm fairly new to the clarinet, or at least new to the symphonic approach to clarinet (as opposed to the saxophonist doubler approach), so I don't know what I'm supposed to be offended by in the musical samples provided.

Well, while listening to the recording with a cheap headset, to me the tone was really quite pure, the timber of connecting notes were the same, the staccato notes sounded sharp and crisp, and the upper clarion tones did not thin out but held the same tonal density as lower clarion tones.

I must admit...I enjoyed listening to it.

Edit: I did a little more research and it appears the TJ3 Zinner mouthpiece is being played in the music sample I provided. http://www.johnsonclarinetmp.com/orderform.html

That's what I thought, too -- downright pleasant! I got *maybe* an intonation issue in a couple spots, but that's more the player than the gear, and nothing that made me throw my laptop across the room in disgust. Maybe I should dig out the good headphones. Still though, a media player with a pause button would be nice...

So, decent enough mouthpieces then? Are they too dark and mellow for most players?

I thought the "darkness" level was just right for me. For others? I sense that there will be differing opinions...
