 Jazz/Blues Classic w/ CD
Author: Mrdi

Looking for a Jazz/Blues classic song book with CD.
The CD needs to have the clarinet solo not just the back-up play along.
I play primarily by ear and typically memorize the tunes.
I also need the music in traditional format.
I am 70, play for my own benefit.
Thanks
Mrdi

The Music Minus One releases featuring Tim Laughlin ("The Isle of Orleans" and "New Orleans Classics") each come with two CDs. One minus the clarinet, one with the clarinet.

The booklets contain the head to each, but otherwise are just chord charts/lead sheets.

Likewsie, the Music Minus One releases of "The Condon Gang" and "Chicago-Style Jam Session" contain two CDs - one with clarinet, and one without. The former is with Bobby Gordon on clarinet, and the latter is with Evan Christopher.

There might be newer/other options out there, but these are the ones I know of.

Hope this helps,
Fuzzy

This one doesn’t have a CD, but the recordings can easily be had (YouTube, etc.). There are some other Benny Goodman transcription books/play alongs, but this one is good because it gives you enough to reconstruct the arrangement. (I trust it’s ok to post Amazon links.)

It’s pretty hard.

There is a book and cd of Eddie Daniels, but it’s way hard. It has a CD but it’s only excerpts. It was hard to use (for me anyhow).

I think the Charlie Parker Omnibook is easier on saxophone than these on clarinet.
