It is being offered by Ridenour. Probably a nice horn!

The only clues I see are that--like most of Ridenour's recent clarinet models--this one is made of rubber and is described as his "entry level clarinet," designed to keep both production costs and selling price down.

So does this mean that the long-valued Leblanc Noblet has now been advanced to the grammatical superlative "Noblissima," or, roughly translated, "the best Noblet we can make, a super-Noblet," or is the Noblissima something very different?

We shall see.

Hi everyone,

I saw an ad for the Noblissima on that auction site for the first time around a week ago. Since there weren't any specifics mentioned and, as stated above, it's not listed on Ridenour's home web site, I made an inquiry to Ted basically wanting to know how it differed from the 576bc. Here is Ted's direct response for which I received written permission to reveal:

"The handful of Noblissima's we have in the current batch are basically 576bc's in an inexpensive case with one barrel. The long term intent of the Noblissima is to offer it to students for between $575 and $675 with a non adjustable thumb rest, skin pads in the upper joint, a standard register key, one barrel, and the plastic case.

The ones we have right now are sort of a limited time offer. I think we have 12 or so left. Hope this answers your question." Ted R.

In a second email to me Ted stated:

"It's really the same clarinet as the 576bc except for the case and one barrel instead of two. It's going to be geared towards students if we go into full production and will be scaled down some more but.....for now it's very similar." Ted R.

I hope some of you find the above useful.

The clarinets are listed as "buy it now" for $675 or make offer. I put in an offer and it was accepted. Just have to wait to see what shows up. I currently have one of his current low c bass clarinets (been playing it for nearly a year with no problems) and one of his C clarinets, and am very pleased with the both of them.

kicking myself... i should have waited a bit longer.. and bought one of these instead! oh well!.

seems a bargain to me. for a lyrique. at the end of the day.. few people would use both barrels.

Wish they'd make an A clarinet like this.

Seriously, crank out a Noblissima A in the sub-or-near-$1000 price range and you'll corner the market on student A clarinets!

The one I ordered (probably the "one sold" in the EBay listing) arrived Monday 3/20. It was just as shown in the EBay photos (Ridenour V shaped register key, adjustable thumb rest, one barrel, probably the normal 576bc pads and a molded plastic case with removable shoulder strap), and as in Ted's response to Dan "The handful of Noblissima's we have in the current batch are basically 576bc's in an inexpensive case with one barrel" It appears that the one I received is just that, a 576bc (without the proposed changes to the clarinet itself) but with the Noblissima logo. I don't have access to an actual 576bc, but when warmed up and a clip-on meter attached, the notes are very well in tune. Similar to the good tuning on the Lyrique-570C that I have.

I am very pleased with the clarinet

John

What are peoples' thoughts on this clarinet for someone who's an amateur "hobbyist" type who plays with a couple of community bands?

My current clarinet is a YCL-34. If I were to get another instrument and it's better, my son (if he decides to continue playing clarinet), may "inherit" the YCL-34 rather than me renting again next school year for him.

Because I'm not _that_ serious a player, I hesitate to spend "real" money on myself but I also don't want to buy garbage for myself.

Thanks!

I think that this would be a great investment. for $700, you get an amazing clarinet and you're saving $200 if it's true that it's basically a 576. I would recommend getting a student or professional mouthpiece along with it.

This is perhaps a silly question: would this clarinet be an upgrade on a Noblet 40 (which I currently own)?
