Br D'Addario/Rico. Any thoughts? I switched from a B45 and wow it sure seems more focused, "tighter?", ....well, I'm looking for opinions.

The only opinion that counts is yours. Mouthpieces are very much an individual choice. You know what is right for you, we can only guess.

Thanks Tony F. While this is true the pages and pages of posts and threads show me there are a lot of opinions and educated reviews of mouthpieces. I searched for this specific mouthpiece here and found nothing.

Up until 6 months ago I didn't even know the X10E existed until I happened to read a posting. Sorry, never tried it though I tried a X5 and back then they didn't list facings, just tip openings. Now they do.

So just on specs alone you're going from a long facing mouthpiece to one that's described as medium short facing. I don't know your physical set up, but very, very generally speaking with a long facing there is an expectation of putting more of that facing into your mouth (however that may be). I don't know if people do that ... but that may be why I seem to see a lot of "I used to use a B45 but moved and it made an immediate difference" type messages on the BB. I'll be honest with you that I haven't tried a B45 either.
A medium short mouthpiece would have less of that facing in your mouth expectation so your description of "focus" and "tighter" sounds right on par of user using it in a manner closer to how it's designed. If also you told me it seems more comfortable to me, I'd say I see what you mean.
... but this is all a apples vs. oranges type of thing and more so since you're probably using reeds you used with the B45 on the X10E and really a lot of it depends on the physical make up of the user (e.g. over/under bite).

As far as response and tone characteristics are concerned, you are as Tony says the best judge of what you like.
It does look from the chart as if the "E" suffix may mean "European," as in higher pitch. The E mouthpieces tune. according to the chart, at A=442 Hz, while the others are made to tune at 441. Whether this is a problem for you or not depends on what kind of playing you do - what kind of ensembles you play in. The higher pitch may also be influencing what you hear as "tighter."
Was your B45 a Series 13 version or a "traditional" one?
