 Eddie Daniels mouthpiece

Hi All
I play on an Eddie Daniels #1. It has been the best mouthpiece for me ,of all that I've tried. Out of curiosity, Does any one know the difference between the Eddie Daniels 1 and the 2? I can't seem to find any info on line.

Just a guess--usually, with most mouthpieces, the higher the number, the more "open" the tip. #1 may indicate an opening of 11mm, the #2 may be 12mm. The basic rule: a more closed mpc requires a stronger reed, a more open a softer reed. Hope this helps a little.

Unless you have a mouth the size of a hippo, it's probably 1.12mm [wink]

The Eddie Daniels #1 is 1.04mm and designated "Classical"

One site had noted that the #2 (tip opening not specified) is for "popular and jazz" ...GBK

This is for those that might be interested in what I found out. I sent an E-mail to Eddie Daniels and was promptly answered by Mirabai Daniels. This is what she wrote.
"....the #2 is a little more open and free...maybe jazz oriented."

Good Morning All;
I currently own a concerto II, which is just a fantastic instrument. None the less when purchased it came with an Eddie Daniels mouthpiece, which is quite nice to play. After some research about the facing of this mouthpiece, I now believe it might be an ED1 with a facing of 104.0, though there are no marking on the mouthpiece to confirm it is in fact an ED1. My question if you have a moment to answered it two prong. Does Leblanc ship its concerto II with an ED1 and do I have the facing measurements above correct? Secondly, Do you perchance know the facing of the ED2, the ads state “fun to play” or “medium”, but what are the real numbers?
Thank you so much is advance for any assistance you can offer.
Sincerely
CWH

Study, Practice, Play and Enjoy.

The Eddie Daniels #i does have a tip opening of 104. The rest of your question, I am unable to answer because I just don't know.

The tip opening of the ED2 is 1.09mm as published in the new "Woodwinds and Brasswind" catalog of Spring 2009.

Study, Practice, Play and Enjoy.
