 What is this bass?

I'm renting a bass clarinet, and I'm curious about it's pedigree / heritage / an so forth. For one thing, within the next 7 months, I'll have to decide whether to buy it, keep renting, or buy something else.

The Bass: It says "Normandy" on it, followed by "USA". In between, there may be a little logo of some sort - a shield perhaps? Has a low Eb key. It's not wood. That's all I can remember right now. Can anyone tell me something about it? General quality, who makes it, how to estimate it's age, what I can expect, strengths and weaknesses, and so forth.

FWIW, I'm a rank beginner, playing for the fun of it.

Thanks,

W

It's the same as a Vito bass (by Leblanc), maybe better than their current ones as I think these Normandy ones (depending on it's age) are made from high density plastic, almost like Bakelite.

The opinions I express are my own.
