 Patricola distributors?
Author: joanne

Does anyone know of a distributor for Patricola in England or France? I'd like to test drive one of their rosewood A clarinets. Their website is down at the moment, and I checked Myatt in UK and WW&BW in Paris, but Patricola is not listed on either.
Thanks!

I believe John Packer stocks them

Packer list them, but their prices seem outrageously high, almost in Eaton territory.

I could have sworn I saw Patricolas in Howarths a couple of years back, but their website doesn't list them now. Possibly they used to stock them and have stopped. Might be worth a call, though I guess there's a risk they might just have the ones nobody wanted to buy.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

I guess they are not distributed in France, al least in the north. I asked two years ago at Feeling musique and the guy didn't even know the Patricola name.

Being a former web developer, I notice certain things. Patricola's website is designed to function with Internet Explorer first and foremost. Other browsers are supported, however, that portion of the site seems to go up and down while the IE side seems to work almost entirely. So... try IE (yes I know it's Microsoft and we all hate it), but that might get you what you need.

www.patricola.com
www.patricola.it

These are the 2 domains that I just tried.

The UK distributor is listed as Packer like someone said above. I did not see a distributor in France. Why not take the train and visit the factory in Italy. Seems like you'd have a much better selection anyhow and Angelo will be happy to help you customize. They're really wonderful people, I play on one of their Eb clarients and have been completely satisfied. Give em a try!

Rosewood A clarinet is exactly what I've tried from Patricola, and wasn't impressed at all. The throat Bb was as stuffy as it can be on a clarinet, and it had some key design problems. For example, I couldn't play C becuase my pinky touched the B key, and that only happened on the Patricola. With all that said, I really liked the sound because it's very unique and different from other brands.

Thanks for the tips - the website works fine with IE.
Packer's prices do seem high, especially since WW&BW in the US has a rosewood A listed for $2200. But maybe there is quite a lot of variation between instruments and this is a bottom of the barrel model??
Has anyone had a chance to compare several Patricola instruments?
