The aux Eb on new clarinets is not a low Eb, but an alternative low Ab/high Eb lever, so this note can be played with either little finger.
Sounds like a sweet deal!

Yes, of the additional keys to the 17/6 Boehm clar, the alt. Ab/Eb lever is probably the most helpful, the "articulated C#/G#" makes some impossible trills possible as well as being useful when playing in many-sharp keys. The "fork Eb/Bb" helps out at times, and the low Eb [also a fair mid-staff Bb makes it possible to transpose music for an A onto a Bb. Altogether they constitute what is known as a full-Boehm clar [20/7 keys/rings]. Some pro makers offer various combinations prob. about $100 or more per addition. The drawbacks are a heavier, more complex clar re: adjustments and repair. I have two, and a "half-full Boehm"! Good luck, Don

It would be fun to have an instrument like this. There are a number of pieces that were written for a Bb with a low Eb. I understand that the clarinet part from Peter and the Wolf is one.

Gary - "What was that, was it the cat??" from Pinafore I believe. Since we played P & W on back, I'll try to check it out, what I remember is that our cl'ist [not me] used my PM FB to play it!! Fun, aint it! Don
