I think that it is more important to pick the instrument that plays the best for you. You can always have an adjustable thumb rest added to any instrument that you choose. I had adj. thumb rests made by Charles Bay added to my LeBlanc Concertos by my local repair person and they work just great. (and I do change the positions from time to time)
