Can someone recommend a good recording of the Copland Clarinet Concerto? I know of Benny Goodman and Stanley Drucker editions, any better ones? How about the Corigliano(sp?) Concerto? Probably the Drucker version is the best, right?

I'm not well versed in recordings of the Copland. Benny's is probably the best for style, but his intervals stink. Druckers i didn't care for. Too stiff sounding.
Once i heard a recording of a someone doing it but i didn't catch the name. He put even more swing in than Benny did. I actually prefered it over Benny's precording.
I very much wish i could have caught the name of the person, but i got pulled over for speeding and had to turn the radio off before the piece was over... :-(

I got to hear a Larry Combs "bootleg" tape. Absolutely fantastic. Also, I hear from a very reliable source the new live recording of Andrew Simen & the Hong Kong Symphony is outstanding.

I know there is a recording with Richard Stoltzman playing the Copland as well as the Corigliano made by RCA! Its really very well done! therese

The Stoltzman recording of the Copland concerto is excellent. Benny Goodman's various recordings are also very fine, the best of which is I think the original mono LP, which has never been reissued. The world premiere live performance is reissued from time to time, with Goodman and the NBC Symphony conducted by Fritz Reiner, but it's dreadful. Stick to the one on Columbia Masterworks 42227.
My favorite, though, is by William Blount with the Orchestra of St. Luke's on BMG/Musicmasters MUMA-0007005. He's an excellent jazz player as well as a classical player with a very smooth technique, and he gets the mixture just right. I was in the West Point Band with him many years ago. A top player and very nice fellow.

I probably have 3 different recordings of Combs playing Copland from the Radio over the years.
The Corigliano , I have Combs, Zukovsky, and Drucker. I want to hear Neidich's version of it, or even Igor Begleman.
I would avoid the French for the Copland - the phrasing is not so great for that idiom (Paul Meyer - I have his recording.)

Sabine is very fluent at Jazz, she has recorded with Eddie Daniels (Sabine's Blues) if I recall.

I have a recording of the Copland by David Shifrin and the NY Chamber Symphony. I don't know how it compares to other recordings, but I like it.
I recorded Drucker playing the Corigliano live the NY Phil in 1979 on radio. I lost the tape. It was wonderful. His recorded version doesn't have quite as much pizazz to it as the live concert
