Similarly to Tony I have boxes of Vandoren reeds going back 20-40 years, the majority long before any hermetically sealed packaging was in use, and these work just fine (well as fine as any more "modern" reeds anyway).

If you are particularly worried then just put the boxes of reeds in a sealed plastc bag, same as used for food storage, and you have instant sealed reeds.
