Are Bb and A bells interchangeble?

I've got a bell for a Selmer clarinet and I'm wondering if the bell can be used for both A and Bb Selmers, or whether it makes any difference. Any advice?

For the most part yes the bells are interchangeable. Some manufacturers label their bells "Bb" or "A" but this does mean they cannot be used interchangeably.

Most older Selmers used the same bells (and barrels) on both Bb and A, but more recent ones can have bells designed to go with each instrument (likewise with barrels). If an A bell works on a Bb (and vice versa) with no problems, then there's no harm in using the 'wrong' bell on any given instrument.
