Trios for Flute, Clarinet, and Oboe
Author: JF Clarinet

My college trio is looking for more music to start learning, but we've had a difficult time finding options we like. We have been working on the Arnold Divertimento and are trying to find a piece of differing style for a chamber music competition. We are planning to play together for a while, so we'd love to find as many options as we can. I figure this is a great place to ask for suggestions.

You could try looking through Sheet Music Press. Here is a link for a search for flute, oboe, and clarinet: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=flute+oboe+clarinet+trio

I have a work, Five Songs for Wind Trio by Clive JENKINS. I’m sure he’d appreciate a US premier. Message me of board.

Paul Harris published by Queen's Temple Publications
deWailly Aubade (I'm not sure if the trio edition I've used edited by Jerry Kirkbride and published by International Music Co is the original instrumentation or not)

There's a selection here: https://www.justflutes.com/category.php?category_id=2403&comp_letter=&page=1&order=comp.

Not on that list but worthwhile is Christopher Ball's Four Dances, which was specifically written as a companion piece to the Arnold. It's published by Emerson. The Emerson website would also be worth exploring: <
https://www.juneemersonwindmusic.com>, but doesn't have a ready-made list for the combination.

There is a good "Suite" by Alvin Etler for that combination. It looks like it is not in print but is available as print-on-demand.

If you add a piano to that wind trio, you can play the Caprice on Danish and Russian Airs by Saint-Saens. Even better is a Sonata by Darius Milhaud for that quartet -- one of the best pieces ever composed by anyone, in my opinion.

Take a look at the free offerings on imslp:

and

Also consider having flute or oboe play violin part
