Hi all,
Been a while since I've posted, but I wanted to gather some suggestions about a clarinet I just picked up. I found this one on craiglist, it's a two-piece Pan-American Moderné, and it's been suggested that this model is basically a Conn 524n, the pro jazz model, just minus the physical niceties. Anyway, the clarinet is complete with what looks like a gold wash bell. The telescoping barrel works. I'm preparing to clean it, and I need some suggestions. It needs repadded, so I'm going to take off all the keys. Can I just run a nice bath and clean it that way? I wouldn't want to scrub silver plating/gold wash off with an abrasive silver polish. It's not terribly dirty, and not very tarnished, but I thought it would be a good idea to clean it before I start a repad.
One thing I found interesting-the body of the clarinet isn't totally smooth, it's like a it has a pattern/skin on it. I don't know the word for it...
Thanks!
