In another thread, Don Berger mentioned having several collections of 5-piece German band books. I presume that he was talking about the "Hungry Five" series from Hansen House, but I'm interested to know if there is any other music in this format. (I also have Hansen's "Hungry Five Plays Ragtime")
The Hungry Five format works really well, with 2 clarinets, 1 trumpet, 1 trombone, and 1 tuba. If anyone else publishes for this instrumentation, I'd like to find out about them.
The Hungry Five is apparently an Americanized instrumentation, and I found nothing available to match it, even at Munich's biggest sheet music store. German instrumentation is different and even those arrangements are scarce. A number of catalogs were mailed to me, with little or no music of this type.
I'd like to know more about what people are finding around the US.
