 flying with a contrabass clarinet

Hi!

I have to go pick up a Leblanc paperclip BBb contrabass clarinet by air. I heard and read here that guitarists and many bass clarinetists cary their instrument in the cabin (without paying an extra seat). Now, a paperclip case isn't much bigger, so I am trying to figure out my chances.

Could someone give me the exact measurements of the papercip's original case please? And for those who carried a fairly big instrument on the airplane, what was the size of it?

Thanks!
