In the mid-60s, Vaclav Nelhybel regularly brought his new pieces to the West Point Band for a read-through. We were happy to see him, because it was a break from familiar material.

His music was skillfully done, largely atonal, brass-dominated, and VERY loud.

I haven't heard his clarinet concerto, though I imagine he cut back on the brass.
