It's so great that you can hear the bass clarinet in the movies. The few movies I've been to in the near past all seem to have synthesized music recorded in Australia or some other offshore place. In the "Matrix Revolution", a terrible movie, the synthesized oboe had an oboish sound with a mechanical vibrato. It's all about making money.
In the real old cartoons, such as the 30s or 40s, a lot of the bass clarinet recordings were done by the legendary Glen Johnston, the mouthpiece man. He was also noted for making some early extensions to low C for bass clarinets. I have an extension to low D that I think he made.
