I just sold a Penzel-Mueller "Artist" clarinet which I restored a couple of months ago. I would say it played very well, quite up to modern standards. I considered keeping it for myself as my "daily player", but decided I needed the money more than another good clarinet. I don't know the date of manufacture of mine, but I'd guess 1940's or thereabouts.
