I've gone through much worse operations, including tumor removals and multiple hernias. Just keep playing, seriously, after about a 6 week recovery period. Just don't lift anything heavy, ever again.
Verify with your doctors, but playing clarinet doesn't cause hernias or tumors. I went back to practicing about three weeks after my last hernia repair, and have been gigging continuously since the 12 week mark. I got my advice from my doctor; get yours from your doctor also.
