Hello friends,

I was just in NYC for a short visit and VACATION , but I was coerced by
several good friends to bring along some mouthpieces and equipment to try.

John Moses, whom I met at Aspen in 1974! has been using my Eb extension
for about a year and posted this very nice note on the clarinet BB:

Since the post I have had several inquiries about this extension. I
suppose I should post a picture on my website.

The extension does NOT extend the range of the clarinet. It adds
(between the bell and the end of the clarinet) an extra tone hole from which
the E/B emanates. Because the E/B is produced form a tone hole rather than
the bell the twelfth is reduced and the tone is more like the other bell
tones. The extension greatly equalizes the resistance between the clarion
register and the throat tones. The additional length dampens some of the
extreme over tones of the instrument so that (IMO) the overall sound of the
Eb is warmer and more appealing. A further happy circumstance of the
additional length is that the overall resistance of the instrument is much
more even and the altissimo register is MUCH more stable.

My extension fits most "Brand" name instruments. Older Selmer Eb clarinets
and some Yamaha Ebs have slightly larger bell tenons than the Buffet, but I
can make extensions for those as well.
