Clarinet Music of Meira Warshauer to be Featured at CUBE Contemporary
Chamber Ensemble Concert on May 11 in Chicago

Meira Warshauer’s Shevet Achim (Brothers Dwell) for two bass clarinets
will be presented by the CUBE Contemporary Chamber Ensemble as part of
their concert on Sunday, May 11 - 8 PM at Ganz Hall (7th floor) of
Roosevelt University, 430 S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.

The piece was commissioned by Richard Nunemaker, who will be one of the
performers.

Shevet Achim for two bass clarinets is a response to the troubled
relationship between the descendants of half-brothers Yitzchak and
Yishmael (sons of Abraham), now Israelis and Palestinians. Written in
fall, 2000, the piece roils with the conflict between the two peoples,
expressing both intense animosity and common identification. More about
the piece at
http://www.meirawarshauer.com/NEW/pages/compositions_chamber.html.

Other composers to be performed include Mwata Bowden, Claude Debussy,
Janice Misurell-Mitchell, Jody Rockmaker and Arnold Schoenberg.

Tickets for the May 11 concert are $20 ($10 students/seniors). For
reservations or more concert information, contact CUBE Contemporary
Chamber Ensemble at 773-536-4181. Much more about CUBE at
