It seems to me that performers and audience must have different
sentiments on this question.

The few times that I've performed formally, I certainly appreciated
whatever applause arrived, regardless of whether it was at the end of
the performance or not, and regardless of whether I felt that I deserved
it or not. In retrospect, I believe: "They are the audience and they
decide the issue. If it makes them feel good, then it makes me feel
good too." I think that inappropriate applause (assuming you feel it
was inappropriate) is more a negotiation among audience members than
between audience and performer.

Perhaps those with more performance experience than myself feel
differently ??? Has it truly aggravated anyone here to receive
applause at a particular moment?
