I guess 'jazz' is such a wide term, but Artie Shaw's 'Jazz Technic' (that is
the way its spelt) , Book 2 - 14 Clarinet Etudes - is good. It doesn't come
with a play along CD or any piano parts, but I find the studies very
enjoyable to play, as well as really putting me through my paces. I've
noticed it regularly on Ebay recently. Book 1 is more like a method book -
taking you through scales and phrases that often recur in his own playing.

Subject: [kl] Looking for Jazz music suggestions

(I apologise if I offend any Jazz purists...)

I bought a book recently called "40 Modern Studies" by James Rae, which
contains, amongst other things, several Jazz (or Jazz style) pieces, which I
rather quite like.

I'm looking for suggestions of any other music in a similar style that I
could get (for a Bb Clarinet)

I'm no great player, but I'm not affraid of having a go at some more
challenging pieces.

Suggestions ?

Thanks,

GTG
