What a wonderful concert!! I do ask you, "Which Beethoven Trio"
for clarinet, cello, and piano? There are two. Wanna bet? My
basset horn against one of your great mouthpieces.

As for the Prokofieff, it is a real masterpiece struggling with
an embarassed name. The Russian title does not translate to
"Overture on Hebrew Themes." I suspect, but do not know, that
playing the work under the real title (or I should say the real
translation) might have been an embarassment for those who wanted
to distance themselves from the ethnicity involved. The real
title is "Overture on Yiddish Themes" (with other translations
suggesting, "Overture on Jewish Themes").

Personally, I never found it embarassing because in my house
Yiddish was the lingua franca. But for those who wished to
distance themselves, I suppose that the published one is enough
of a distance.

Keep in mind that none of the tunes represent real folk music.
The story is that Prokoffiev got the main melodies from Simeon
Bellison when he was in New York.
