I didn't think you would know what that line was about as it was a line in a
song from a singer Tom Waits, in a neat song, about a hitch hiking who is
picked up by a truck driver in a rain storm, and he has to let the guy out
of the truck right before this bend in the road, and he gives him a dime for
a cup of coffee for the bar/restaurant (okay coffee is more today, as this
was 1975!).

Well, the guy goes and gets his coffee and he wants to pay for the coffee
with this dime that Big Joe gave him from the truck, as the Big Joe told him
to tell the owner that the dime was from Big Joe, and the place goes dead

So the guy said to everyone."Was it something I said".

And the bartender says "No son" and he explains what happen on that bend, as
it was a snowy or raining day, and a school bus full of kids was a on a
course to hit the truck and he served out of the way to miss the bus and he
crashes. And now Joe drives a truck called Phantom 309.

The song is called The Ballad of Big Joe and Phantom 309. A very touching
song, if you can get pass his voice! Very well done.

I found the words to this song on a website that I will sent, as the line
was a bit different than yours, Matthew, but it stirred up the memory of
that great song! Thanks Matthew!
