Christy, I think you perceive these people to be saying "I don't care
whether my music is good or bad". This may be true in a few cases.

But look at this from the inferior musician's perspective. What would
you do if you wanted to play music with other people, but you also knew
that your skills were minimal and not likely to improve (for whatever
reason --- lack of practice time, physical or hearing defect, or
whatever)?

One possibility would be to fabricate a 'little white lie' and to say "I
only play for the fun of it" --- even though you wish very much that you
could play better (and *perhaps* you're working hard even when you play
badly).

This is **not** **not** **not** to say that better players should
shoulder the emotional burden of trying to play with you. This is only
to say that perhaps it makes sense to seek your own satisfaction
elsewhere without condemning those who wish they could do better.
