9/19 Clarinettissimo is at Cornish College of the Arts, Harvard and Roy, at
4pm and is free
10/3 Solo Clarinet at Polestar, 19th and Union, is at 7pm, and is $7

It's kinda hard to put it in an email. There was lots of rubato (both
speeding up and slowing down), and it sounded very French - full of
gestures, not statements. He had some great ideas for changing your tone
to match the phrasing ideas, like a washed out start, coming into focus
only at the ends of the crescendos during the introduction. It reminds me
now of the way great pianists perform Debussy. It's a way you hear in the
wind world with alarming infrequency.
